What is sodium hmds?

Sodium hexamethyldisilazide (NaHMDS) is a chemical compound with the formula Na(CH3)3SiNSi(CH3)3. It is typically used as a strong base and is commonly used in organic synthesis to deprotonate weakly acidic compounds. NaHMDS is a superbase and its pKa value is around 25, making it one of the most powerful bases available for synthetic chemistry. It is soluble in most organic solvents, including highly polar solvents such as DMF, DMSO, and THF. NaHMDS is commercially available as a solution in hexane or THF, typically at a concentration of around 1 M. It is also known to be a highly reactive compound and care should be taken when handling it.
